How To Pay Your Rent

Payments Online

You can now pay rent online by clicking here - you will need a rent payment card to use this service. You can pay by Credit or Debit Card.

Post Office

Take your Rent payment card to the Post Office. You may pay with cash or cheque.

Telephone

24 Hours 0844 557 8321. Have your rent payment card to hand together with your credit or debit card. Alternatively, phone Pierhead's office on 0151 227 1001 and we will take your payment over the phone. (Only available Monday-Friday 9 to 5pm).

Standing Order

This is an instruction you make to your bank to pay a set amount each week or month. If you would like to pay your rent by standing order, please contact your Housing Officer for further details.

PayPoint/E-Pay

Payments can also be made at any of the main shops and garages displaying the PayPoint sign, you can also pay at all participating E-pay outlets. Many of these retailers are open late in the evening and on Sundays, giving you more opportunity to pay when you want. Just present your swipe card and payment to the retailer, please retain the receipt you are given as proof of payment. A list of local retailers operating the PayPoint and E-pay schemes can be found at www.allpay.net

Direct from Benefits

It is sometimes possible to make rent arrears payments direct from your benefits. For more information, please contact your Housing Officer.

Housing Benefit - if you are having difficulty paying your rent, you may be entitled to Housing Benefit. Housing Benefit is available not only to tenants who receive Income Support or other Benefits but may also be available to tenants who are working but receiving a low income. The amount of Housing Benefit payable depends upon the size of your family, the income of your family and the amount of rent due on your property. If you would like to receive more information about the amount of Benefit you may be entitled to, please contact your Housing Officer,who will be happy to help.

Other Debt Advice - there are also agencies who provide FREE advice to tenants who are having difficulty paying their rent or who have other debt problems. Your local Citizens Advice Bureau have Debt Counsellors who can give advice and help to make arrangements with the people you owe money to. The National Debt Line can give free information to people living in England and Wales. It also provides an information pack on dealing with debt. The line is available on Monday to Friday 9.00am to 9.00pm and on Saturday 9.30am. to 1.00pm. Call them for free on:0808 808 4000 and the website address is www.nationaldebtline.co.uk.

Direct to Pierhead

Call into the office and pay by any of the following: cash, cheque, credit/debit card, postal order. You can also post a cheque or postal order to us made payable to Pierhead Housing.

Direct Debit

The simple, safe and convenient way to pay. You’ll never need to worry about missing a rent payment ever again. If you pay by Direct Debit we can arrange for your rent to be paid weekly, fortnightly, 4 weekly or monthly. Please phone your housing officer for a form. If you switch to this method of payment we will also send you a £10 Argos voucher.
