Transfers & Exchanges

Transfers

You may find that your home is no longer suitable for your needs. If you wish to apply for a transfer we will consider your request according to your housing need. Because of our very small stock of properties, we normally give priority to people who need to move because of overcrowding or ill health. The ability to cope in Transfers & Exchangestheir present home will be considered.

If you wish to apply for a transfer, please contact your Housing Officer.

We cannot normally accept an application for a transfer if you have not kept your home in a good state of repair and decoration, or if you owe rent.

After receiving your application for a transfer, we will let you know whether we can accept you on the transfer list. Acceptance onto this list does not guarantee a transfer.

Exchanges

Most of the Association’s tenants have the right to exchange with another tenant of a Housing Association, a Local Authority or another tenant of this Association. It is important to get our permission before any exchange takes place.

An application for an exchange may be refused if:

  • You owe rent
  • There is a court action against you for possession of the property
  • One of the two households wishing to exchange would be overcrowded or would be under-occupying the new property

If you want to be considered for an exchange, please contact your Housing Officer.
